There is an artistic precedent for studying just the outline of a subject, from traditional silhouette portraits in the 18th century to shadow theater to stylized images in film noir movies. It is the power of forcing a three-dimensional subject to be rendered entirely in a two-dimensional frame.
In this conceptual project I controlled lighting and subject to create a “readable” visual story in silhouette form. This was achieved by using studio equipment and lighting control devices. In post processing the visual was expounded on by adding color, copy and additional graphics to coincide with Head’s corporate branding.
